It all started in 2012 with the leader of the Soca-Lypso Tent Gordon “Chacom” “Gin” Leon as a Kwéyòl Calypso Competition. It became a song competition two years later and with the involvement of Caron Tobierre it became a National Kwéyòl Song Competition – Annou manjé, dansé, chanté Kwéyòl – part of the Saint Lucia’s Creole Heritage Month. Chacom passed in 2017, but the dream lived on through his friend Caron Tobierre who has now taken the event into its 12th season with the tribute tagline “Annou manjé, dansé, chanté Kwéyòl pou Chacom”. Calabash TV has been a key part of this legacy, documenting the event annually. This year’s show was Emceed by Nintus Magre and dedicated to the memory of Jaunty, who passed last year. Winners over the years: 2012 Agnes “Black Pearl” Chester 2013 Gregory Sinaise 2014 Gregory Sinaise 2015 Ras Africa 2016 – the show was held as a festival 2017 Ignatius “Invader” Tisson 2018 Wulstan “Walleigh” Alfred 2019 Walleigh featuring Jozzy 2020 -No Event [Covid-19 Pandemic] 2021 – the show was held as a Festival 2022 Deshawn “Tii Blacks” Augustin 2023 Robert Rene 2024 Rosemond “The Senator” Clery

And let's not forget the multiple Sports Woman of the Year - the Queen of Firsts and Four Time Olympian High Jumper Levern Spencer. Here's a video produced by Calabash TV in 2019 -[just prior to the Covid-19 outbreak] as Levern celebrated two decades representing Saint Lucia at the highest level.
